La Manga del Mar Menor is 40 minutes away by car and is a famous resort strip with safe and shallow waters that offer a wide variety of water sports. It is Europe’s largest salt water lagoon and has over 170 square kilometres of shallow warm water. Similarly a 30 minute drive takes you to the superb beaches of Mazarron and the new large shopping centre which is located just outside of the port of Cartagena. Cartagena itself is also worth a visit if you can drag yourself away from the beauty of Hacienda del Alamo.
